Rings and Modules Old Syllabus for O4
نویسنده
چکیده
Small print The syllabus for the course is defined by the Faculty Board Schedules (which are minimal for lecturing and maximal for examining). Please note that, throughout, ring means commutative ring with one. I should very much appreciate being told of any corrections or possible improvements and might even part with a small reward to the first finder of particular errors. This document is written in LTEX2e and stored in the file labelled ~twk/1B/Rings.tex on emu in (I hope) read permitted form. My e-mail address is twk@dpmms.

ϕ-ALMOST DEDEKIND RINGS AND $\Phi$-ALMOST DEDEKIND MODULES
The purpose of this paper is to introduce some new classes of rings and modules that are closely related to the classes of almost Dedekind domains and almost Dedekind modules. We introduce the concepts of $\phi$-almost Dedekind rings and $\Phi$-almost Dedekind modules and study some properties of this classes. In this paper we get some equivalent conditions for $\phi$-almost Dedekind rings and ...
متن کاملSOME REMARKS ON ALMOST UNISERIAL RINGS AND MODULES
In this paper we study almost uniserial rings and modules. An R−module M is called almost uniserial if any two nonisomorphic submodules are linearly ordered by inclusion. A ring R is an almost left uniserial ring if R_R is almost uniserial. We give some necessary and sufficient condition for an Artinian ring to be almost left uniserial.
متن کاملNONNIL-NOETHERIAN MODULES OVER COMMUTATIVE RINGS
In this paper we introduce a new class of modules which is closely related to the class of Noetherian modules. Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and let $M$ be an $R$-module such that $Nil(M)$ is a divided prime submodule of $M$. $M$ is called a Nonnil-Noetherian $R$-module if every nonnil submodule of $M$ is finitely generated. We prove that many of the properties of Noetherian modul...
متن کاملAN INTEGRAL DEPENDENCE IN MODULES OVER COMMUTATIVE RINGS
In this paper, we give a generalization of the integral dependence from rings to modules. We study the stability of the integral closure with respect to various module theoretic constructions. Moreover, we introduce the notion of integral extension of a module and prove the Lying over, Going up and Going down theorems for modules.
متن کاملAlgebra Oral Qualifying Exam Syllabus
algebra is the study of fundamental algebraic structures that occur throughout mathematics: groups, rings, modules, categories, and fields—as well as maps between them. A solid grasp of algebra can be useful to students of all mathematical stripes, and accordingly the suggested syllabus is a “strong core plus more” model: a student preparing for an oral qualifying exam in algebra should (1) fee...
